Duck Farm Concept Plan

The Watershed Conservation Authority (WCA) purchased the old Duck Farm site along the San Gabriel River in La Puente in 2004 to transform the 57-acre site into a park, as well as provide other benefits like restoring natural habitat and improving water quality.

Earlier this year, the WCA commenced work on the Duck Farm Site Concept Plan which will define the park’s design, placement of proposed features and estimated costs. Three workshops were scheduled to be held at San Angelo Park to hear ideas from residents and community leaders on what the park should look like. A Visioning Workshop was held April 8, an Alternatives Workshop was held July 15, and a Final Plan Presentation will be held in September.

Three concept alternatives were presented at the meeting on July 15. where they were reviewed, and comments and opinions were gathered. Two sets of these alternatives (Adobe PDF files) have been prepared for downloading.

This sets the stage for the planning consultant, EDAW, to refine the design and to develop a single concept plan combining all of the input received thus far. A draft of this alternative will be available for review in September, 2006 and a further round of input will invite stakeholder comments.
