SAN GABRIEL MOUNTAINS
The photos in this gallery were selected
from those in the website Adventure
Hikes and Canyoneering in the San Gabriels. That website contains
descriptions of 57 hikes that take you on an astonishing tour
of remote areas of the San Gabriel Mountains. You'll discover
dozens of waterfalls that the ordinary hiker should not attempt
to visit. (Note the author's warnings
and precautions.)
Perhaps
the most awesome is the series of seven waterfalls described and
photographed in the Great
Falls of the Fox. The author of the website, Christopher Earls
Brennen, and his friends rappelled down the waterfalls in Fox
Creek, which flows into Tujunga Reservoir north of La Canada-Flintridge.
We've also found another website which contains of descriptions and photos of 38 hikes in the San Gabriels. Roy's Hikes in the Angeles National Forest is based on John W. Robinson'sTrails of the Angeles, 100 Hikes in the San Gabriels, considered the authoritative book on hiking in these mountains.
